The 2022 IFMA World Youth Muay Thai Championship

Over 100 countries participated in IFMA Youth World Championship

The 2022 IFMA Youth World Championships, which were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 9 to August 21, 2022, came to a positive end and received favourable feedback.

The annual IFMA event for young athletes featured competition from the youth national teams, as well as cultural interaction, sporting and social events, public education and training programs, and, of course, the famous youth world championship.

The Youth World Championships this year includes combat matches in all Youth Division weight classes, as well as solo and mixed team matches in the Wai Kru and Mai Muay divisions.

The IFMA World Youth Conference on the topic of Fair Play and the main Anti-Doping World Conference blew the doors off.

At this conference, more than 600 young people from various national associations came together to discuss pressing issues involving fair play and Olympic ideals.

The anti-doping checks for medal winners were conducted by the local NADO, but fair play was also in full effect due to the expertise of IFMA’s elite team of ITOs and Judges.

It was performed to safeguard the next generation and to assist the clean athletes who had worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to realise their aspirations at the 2022 IFMA Youth World Championships this year.

Even after six days of action, there were still a lot of close matches. Malaysia took home the gold in the Youth U12 competition. The Philippines won the gold medal in the Youth U15 & U18 competition.

There are other aspects to the IFMA Youth World Championships besides athletic competition. Exchanges in education and culture are appreciated and supported by IFMA. On day eight of the IFMA YWC2022, which was a break day, the competitors had the chance to discover and tour Kuala Lumpur, one of the most contemporary cities in the world.

Whilst touring the hectic streets and quiet beautiful corners, they learned the history of some of the city’s most famous buildings.

On this final gold medal day, all of the World Youth Championships finalists in KL in 2022 passionately stood at the podium when the national anthem was being played, with flags raised. Emotional scenes of compassion, unity, and harmony in diversity brought the youth of the world together through athletics.
