The four winners of the Best New Artiste, Best Music Video, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year categories for the 23rd edition of the Music Industry Awards will remember this moment forever (AIM). This is due to the fact that they will receive the Music Industry Digital Content Fund, also known as DKD, for the first time, in addition to the coveted AIM trophy, which is given by the government through the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (K-KOMM) as a means of supporting and rewarding local music industry professionals. The DKD fund of RM50,000 for “Best New Artiste,” RM20,000 for “Best Music Video,” and RM200,000 for “Album of the Year” will be given to the winners of the chosen award categories.

DKD is one of the Government’s major strategies for helping and enticing members of the creative sector to create, sell, and share high-quality creative content for both domestic and international markets. This demonstrates the government’s sincerity and dedication to supporting the expansion of the creative sector, which includes the music sector, which has enormous potential to serve as one of the key pillars of economic growth in the new digital economy.

Rosmin Hashim, Chairman of the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) and the AIM23 Organising Committee said, “We have just received this good news from K-KOMM and RIM as the organisers of AIM, is very appreciative and grateful for the support given by the Government to the local music industry players. In line with AIM’s goal to improve the quality of creative content, the initiative through DKD to the four winners of AIM’s main categories will be a catalyst for music industry activists to produce high quality and international standard creative content works”.

The DKD awarded to the champion of the ‘Best New Artiste’ award category, for example, can be utilised to generate superior quality recordings for the recipient while advancing the artiste’s career. Meanwhile, the DKD prize given to the winner of the ‘Song of the Year’ award allows the recipient to create new singles and music videos of higher production level.

In order to promote the creation of more albums with high quality and promise for the local and global markets, DKD money are additionally provided to the winners of the “Best Music Video” and “Album of the Year” award categories.

The DKD allotted to the AIM23 winners will be distributed through the recording business to the particular winners, ensuring that the DKD investment has the greatest possible impact while also involving multiple job opportunity chains in the local music industry ecosystem.
